This is a fantastic looking mix mosaic, with a mix of black, grey and natural stone squares.  Like most mosaics it looks even better grouted with a white grout to show off the different shades and tones.

Choosing a mosaic tile colour

Needn’t be a chore, but if you fancy a black mosaic tile for its versatility in fitting in with colour schemes, you might have a niggling reservation because you might think that they will make the room depressing.

In fact the opposite is true!  The beautiful depth of glass mosaics can bounce light and sparkles around the room, bringing life to even a windowless bathroom!

Nowadays an area can be laid in a trice, thanks to the invention of mosaic tile sheets!  Placed on a mesh backing and generally 300x300mm square, these sheets are ideal for covering large expanses of wall and to neatly decorate flowing curved surfaces and smaller areas.

This mosaic tile is stunning.   It has an gorgeous layered look, with a lustrous textured effect shining through the glass.  It looks great as a feature on its own as the textured detail reflects lots of light.

The vast differences found in price and the reason why it is actually better to avoid the extremely cheap mosaics

Mosaics are no longer very costly, in fact most of the examples shown on this site are on average £13-16.  They are very high quality, with fine detail.  Having seen the differences in quality available, I know that fewer problems in installation occur when a better quality product is chosen: for instance in the case of some cheaper mosaics (from £2-5 per sheet), I have seen that although they were placed on a fibreglass mesh, they were not even lined up true!  This would cause a lot of problems in installation.

This mosaic will give an optical illusion with the wider individual tiles, it appears to lengthen any wall it it placed upon.  Great for smaller spaces.  It has a beautiful iridescent sheen too, displaying the colours of the rainbow at certian angles!

The different varieties

The enduring black mosaic tiles will bring drama to your interior, with many additional touches such as an iridescent sheen, a natural stone mix, gold fleck, lustre or even cool modern matt effects for maximum impact.

For thousands of years people have been using them to bring style and practicality to kitchens, bathrooms, showers and swimming pools.  They also look fantastic in porches, on the floor in muted colours to bring an ambience linked with a past long dedicated to this fine art form.
